Brown and white

I liked the light coloured carpets, white walls, brown and white wooden handrails and ethnic brown dining table.

I've been a little slack about blogging of late .. I'll visit your blogs soon :)

Diagonal

I saw this one in my archives, played a little with saturation and liked it. Its a bench's back-rest against a wooden frame-work.

Yeee-Haaaw

Thurmond Dam

Thurmond dam in the Georgia-South Carolina border, along the Savannah river. Lake Thurmond, created by this dam is one of the largest manmade lakes in southeast US. Its a great place to chill-out, picnic and generally sit saoked in the water. Read more about Thurmond Lake and Dam here.

Could use some rest!

This was taken near the Old Post Office Pavilion in DC. This week's been so draining .. I wouldn't mind stretching out on one of those benches. Have a great weekend everybody!

Bike wreck

I'm in a 'blurs and shakes are cool' phase right now I guess. This scene in front of our car during my trip to DC was not really a bike wreck though it looks like one. It was a jeep mounted with 5 bikes at the back .. 2 adults' and 3 kids' .. a family biking expedition of sorts I suppose. It was raining like crazy on the drive from DC to NJ. Rain + moving car + some post processing soft focus can make anything look like a wreck :)

Speed

Not a very good picture to get an idea of what it is, but any guesses?? I've given you a hint with the title. I'll post the answer tomorrow :)

**********************
Answer - Some neat guesses there. Arunz was the closest followed by Kaleidoscope. This was taken in Atlanta airport through the front glass of the concourse train :) The streaks of light were from the yellow tunnel lights on the right and white tunnel lights on the left. You can see faint track marks in the bottom part of the picture.

Hakuna Matata

My 4-yr old cousin Sahana. I just love taking pictures of kids .. they have such happy, worry-free expressions. And Lion King is her favorite movie .. so here we go - Hakuna Matata .. it means no worries.. :) Have a great week ahead, everybody!

Lines and stripes

This is in the Medical College of Georgia, in a hallway in the Research and Education building, where my lab is located. This is how the place looks in the morning with the sun's rays. As I stood there to take the picture, people thought it was strange and came out of their labs to check out what I was clicking :)

Wheels of change

Taken at the Machines Shop at the Hagley Museum, Wilmington, DE. Its a duPont museum and this is where they first manufactured gunpowder for construction and ironically, also for destruction (World War II). Taken in B/W.

Looking up - color

Aashish asked for a color version of Looking up .. here it is! Which one do you like better?

Looking up

For a break, I thought I'd post a non-nature shot. My friends own a condo in the this building .. this is looking up through the sunroof at the entrance. Alexandria, Virginia.

Red loudspeakers

I seem to be in a flowery phase as far as blogging is concerned. This one is better with respect to the background compared to the last one I guess. This was also taken the Brandywine zoo .. told ya, there were no animals to see!

Purple and Green

Brandywine zoo in Wilmington, Deleware. It was so hot, that the animals chose to stay inside their caves and we couldn't see most of them. I had to satisfy myself with flower pictures :)

PsYcHeDeLiC fountains

The sound and light show at Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania is awesome. I didn't have a tripod with me, but these fountains somehow create a psychedelic effect with the bright colors in the night with Beethoven playing in the background.

Intertwined

This is the side of a coffee table in my uncle's house's sunroom. I was intrigued by the simple, yet attractive patterns.

Have a great weekend everybody!

The Greyhound

I bet this is a very common feature to everyone in the US. This giant leaping greyhound is painted on all 'Greyhound' transit line buses. My fascination for dogs always makes me turn and watch these buses till they disappear from my sight :)

Busy bee

Took this during a visit to Brandywine zoo with my kid cousins. I haven't really taken many flower shots .. one of my first decent ones.

Light sparks

I took this from the car on the way back to NJ. We were stranded in several miles of traffic and inched our way back on the NJ turnpike. And guess what .. it starts to rain too! This shot was a result of mere boredom and I started playing with my camera and taking random shots. I guess it works sometimes :)

Friendly squirrel

He seems to want some shade too! Just below is another picture of him.

On my trip to DC, I did a 'Bike the Sites' tour and cycled to all the monuments and memorials .. it was good fun inspite of the scorching heat and ridiculously high humidity. During the mid-way rest stop, we were sitting in the shade and this inquisitive squirrel came up to us and started playing with us. He was not at all scared! For a little while, he played a sport and let me get some decent pictures of him. Here's another one of him.
